A study quoted to say environment-wise AI writing was better than human writing. It was fake. Research that led me to that knowledge vanished. I found it again.

Question: Why do they include embodied carbon of the hardware used for training but not for inference?

This is just one very politely framed but utterly damning expose of a “paper” by Tomlinson et al titled The carbon emissions of writing and illustrating are lower for AI than for humans.
